The American Gold Eagle reaches an important point in 2026, celebrating 40 years as one of the United States Mints flagship gold bullion programs. First introduced in 1986, the Gold Eagle quickly became a well-known choice for both collectors and investors, thanks to its classic designs and reliable gold content. From the start, the series has been issued in four sizes, including a 1 oz coin and three smaller fractional coins. The smallest option, the 1/10 oz Gold Eagle, has long been the most popular fractional size because it offers an easier entry point into gold ownership. Each coin is struck in 22-karat gold with a purity of 91.67%. Provident Metals is now offering 2026 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins in certified condition.

Highlights:

  • Comes with an individual slab!
  • 40th-anniversary date for the American Gold Eagle!
  • Limited availability of certified coins!
  • Contains 1/10 troy oz of actual gold content.
  • The face value of $5 (USD) is backed by the US government.
  • Graded Mint State 69 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • First Strike.
  • Lady Liberty is depicted on the obverse.
  • An American bald eagle is featured on the reverse.

All 2026 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins available from Provident Metals are graded Mint State 69. MS69 coins still show full mint luster and strong detail, with only up to two very small flaws. These are usually tiny contact marks or light hairlines that sit outside the main focal areas. First Strike coins are those that reach PCGS for grading within 30 days of the Mints official release.

Obverse

On the obverse of the 2026 American Eagle Gold Coin is Lady Liberty in Augustus Saint-Gaudens famous 1907 design. Liberty steps forward with confidence, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The background includes the U.S. Capitol Building, rays of sunlight, and a ring of stars around the edge. The inscriptions include LIBERTY and 2026.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2026 Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin features the updated bald eagle image first used in 2021. Jennie Norris artwork presents the eagles head in left-profile relief, offering a bold, detailed portrait that matches the modern direction of the series. The inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 5 DOLLARS, and 1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD.

History

In 2021, the Mint introduced a fresh reverse for the 1/10 oz Gold Eagle created by artist Jennie Norris. The design shows a close-up view of a bald eagle, adding a more modern feel along with updated security elements. Even with the new reverse, the Mint kept the long-standing Saint-Gaudens obverse, so the coin continues to reflect the historic look that has defined the series for decades.
