These 2026 Australian Lunar Horse 1/20 oz Gold Coins arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Single coins are housed in acrylic capsules, while sets of 20 are offered in sealed rolls. The Perth Mint has set no mintage limit for this release.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2026 Australian Lunar Horse Gold Coin includes the official first-generation portrait of King Charles III used on Australian currency. Created by Dan Thorne, the image shows the King facing left without a crown. The inscriptions include CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, 1/20 OZ 9999 AU, and 5 DOLLARS.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 2026 Lunar Horse 1/20 oz Gold Coins, the coin features a rearing horse with its front hooves raised. The animal stands confidently in a grassy, mountainous landscape, designed to reflect the bold spirit of the zodiac sign. Inscriptions here include HORSE, 2026, the P mint mark, and the Chinese emblem for the Horse.
History

During the Tang Dynasty, horses were especially significant, playing a key role in the military and in trade along the Silk Road. Their importance led to rich cultural expressions during Horse years, including artworks and formal celebrations.
