{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The United States Navy was first formed on October 13, 1775, when the Continental Congress approved a small fleet during the American Revolution. Built mostly from merchant ships, the early Navy was created to intercept British supplies and defend the colonies. In honor of the Navys 250th anniversary in October 2025, the United States Mint has introduced a Proof Silver Eagle featuring a special US Navy privy mark. Today, 2025-S Proof Navy Privy American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins are available online at Provident Metals in certified condition.

Created by artist Emily Damstra in 2020, the design shows the eagle with its wings outstretched while carrying an oak branch, symbolizing strength and perseverance. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, 1 OZ FINE SILVER, and the S mint mark.
History
The Spanish-American War of 1898 marked the United States rise as a global naval power. Victories at Manila Bay and Santiago de Cuba showed the Navys growing capability. Theories from naval strategist Alfred Thayer Mahan promoted building a modern fleet and expanding into overseas bases in the Philippines, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. This marked the shift from coastal defense to a global presence, highlighted by the Great White Fleets around-the-world voyage from 1907 to 1909.
