{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Morgan Silver Dollar debuted in 1878, designed by George T. Morgan after Congress passed the Bland-Allison Act, which required the Treasury to purchase silver for coinage. The series ended in 1921, but a century later, the US Mint honored its legacy by releasing new Morgan Silver Dollars as part of a modern program. Provident Metals now offers the 2025-S Proof Morgan Dollar Silver Coin.
Highlights:
Each 2025-S Proof Morgan Dollar Silver Coin is a proof-quality coin featuring frosted images and highly polished background fields. The coin is individually encapsulated, delivered in a blue US Mint box, and shipped with an outer Morgan Dollar-themed package. Every coin also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2025-S Proof Morgan Dollar Coin includes George T. Morgans 1878 portrait of Liberty. She is shown in left-profile wearing a Phrygian cap, a laurel wreath, and a coronet with the word Liberty. Surrounding the portrait are 13 stars, and the date of issue appears at the bottom. Inscriptions include E PLURIBUS UNUM, LIBERTY, and 2025.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2025-S Proof Morgan Dollar Silver Coin, Morgans heraldic eagle design is featured. The eagle faces forward with wings spread wide, holding arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other to symbolize both defense and peace. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, ONE DOLLAR, and the S mint mark.
History
The San Francisco Mint was an important part of Morgan Dollar history, striking coins from 1878 to 1904. Its proximity to silver mined in Nevada and California made it a key facility in the series. San Francisco Morgans are well known for their sharp strikes and quality production, thanks to both fresh silver supplies and consistent minting standards.
