{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}For many years, the Mexican Mint offered just two versions of the Silver Libertad: Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof. That changed in 2015 when a new type of collectibleReverse Proof Silver Libertadsjoined the lineup. In the first three years, the mint released this version in the 1 oz, 2 oz, and 5 oz sizes. Right now, you can order the 2025 Reverse Proof Mexican Libertad 5 oz Silver Coin from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2025 Reverse Proof Mexican Libertad 5 oz Silver Coin ships in a plastic capsule for protection. These reverse proof coins are different from standard proof coins. With reverse proofs, the design has a bright, reflective surface, while the background is softly frosted.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2025 Reverse Proof Mexican Libertad Silver Coin displays Mexicos national coat of arms. This version shows a golden eagle gripping a snake while perched on a cactus. Ten older versions of the same emblem surround the central image, showing how the design evolved over time. The inscriptions include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2025 Reverse Proof Libertad 5 oz Silver Coin features Winged Victory, a historic symbol of Mexican independence. She appears in a three-quarter view holding a laurel wreath in one hand and a broken set of chains in the other. The inscriptions read 5 ONZAS, PLATA PURA, 2025 LEY .999, and the Mo mint mark.
History
From 1982 through 2014, Silver Libertads were only produced in BU and proof formats. That changed in 2015 when the mint added two special collectible types. The Reverse Proof coins began with a 1 oz release, with 2 oz and 5 oz pieces following in 2017. An antique silver version also launched in 2018, though that line only lasted two years. The Reverse Proof, however, continues to be offered.
Across all releases in 2025, the Mexican Mint has significantly reduced the mintage of its Mexican Silver Libertads and opted not to produce any 2025 Mexican Gold Libertads. In particular, mintage levels for all BU Silver Libertads have reached record lows for the series, a development that is expected to create lasting scarcity for this years coins.
