{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Silver Libertad series made its debut in 1982 with the release of the 1 oz silver bullion coin. Just a year later, in 1983, a 1 oz proof version joined the lineup. Regular production of these proof coins started in 1986, and over time, the series expanded to include both smaller fractional sizes and larger weights. Today, you can buy the 2025 Proof Mexican Libertad 1 oz Silver Coin at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2025 Proof Mexican Libertad 1 oz Silver Coin offered by Provident Metals comes in its own protective capsule. Obverse
The obverse side of the 2025 Proof Mexican Libertad Silver Coin features the national coat of arms of Mexico in its modern form. This includes an eagle gripping a serpent while perched on a prickly pear cactus. Around the central design, youll find 10 historic versions of the same symbol. These additional emblems are only found on the 1 oz, 2 oz, and 5 oz proof coins. The inscriptions here include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2025 Proof Libertad 1 oz Silver Coin features Winged Victory, an important figure in Mexican culture. She is shown standing atop the Independence Victory Column in Mexico City. Behind her are the snow-capped volcanoes Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl, adding depth to the design. Inscriptions here include 1 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 2025 LEY .999, and the Mo mint mark.
History
When the Spanish ruled Mexico, they modified the indigenous eagle and serpent imagery to better align with their own Christian beliefs. The new versions of the seal featured European-style elements such as coats of arms, crowns, and heraldic shields, which symbolized Spanish authority in the Americas.
