Obverse
On the obverse of 2025 Proof Colorized Niue Richter Scale 90th Anniversary Silver Coins, you will find a portrait of King Charles III. The King is shown in left-profile relief without a crown. This likeness of His Majesty was designed by Jody Clark. The inscriptions include CHARLES III, NIUE 2025, ONE DOLLAR, and 1 OZ 999 SILVER.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025 Proof Colorized Richter Scale 90th Anniversary 1 oz Silver Coin depicts cracked earth with the seismic readings of the Richter Scale. Although todays earthquake measurements use moment magnitude, Richter Scale remains a well-known term in news reports and everyday conversation. The inscriptions read RICHTER SCALE.
History
While at the California Institute of Technology, Richter created a logarithmic scale in which each full number step represented a tenfold rise in amplitude and about 32 times greater energy release. At first, the scale was designed for Southern California quakes using specific equipment, but it soon became a trusted way to compare earthquake sizes around the world.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
