Each 2025 Proof 60th Anniversary of Canadian Flag Maple Leaf 4-Coin Gold Set is displayed in a maple leaf-shaped wooden box and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Inside, four gold coins in weights of 1 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz are each encapsulated to maintain their condition.

Obverse

The obverse side of each coin in this set features a youthful portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, created by Arnold Machin in 1965, the same year Canada adopted its current flag. This design was one of the first images of the Queen used on Canadian coinage. Inscriptions here read ELIZABETH II, D.G. REGINA, and the individual face values.

Reverse

On the reverse, each coin carries a design of the sugar maple leaf created by artist Joel Kimmel. The 1 oz coin stands out with a vibrant, colorized red maple leaf, a nod to the primary color of Canadas flag. The reverse also includes a double date of 1965-2025, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the flag. Inscriptions on this side include CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD, OR PUR, and the individual weights.

History

Canadas current flag was chosen as part of a national search for a symbol that would represent Canadas unique identity, distinct from British roots. The maple leaf, a symbol embraced by Canadians and Indigenous cultures, was selected as the emblem for the new flag, marking Canadas journey as a proud and independent nation.
