A US Marine Corps privy mark is added to this side, featuring the eagle, globe, and fouled anchor emblem first adopted in 1868. The design elements stand for national duty, global presence, and the Corps deep connection to the US Navy. The inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, 2025, and the AW signature mark.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025-P Proof Marine Corps Privy Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin features Emily Damstras modern bald eagle artwork. Introduced in 2020 and used on the Silver Eagle since 2021, this design captures an eagle mid-flight, clutching an oak branch that represents strength and resilience. The inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, 1 OZ FINE SILVER, and the P mint mark.
History
Marines earned distinction in both naval and land operations during the War of 1812. They fought aboard the USS Constitution in its victories against HMS Guerriere and HMS Java, where Marine sharpshooters helped secure success. On land, they were part of the defense of Washington, D.C., and fought bravely at the Battle of Bladensburg before taking part in the defense of New Orleans with Andrew Jacksons troops in January 1815.
