Obverse
The obverse design of 2025-P Proof Marine Corps Privy American Eagle Silver Coins features Adolph A. Weinmans classic 1916 Walking Liberty, paired with a Marine Corps privy mark showing the eagle, globe, and anchor. Adopted in 1868, this emblem represents the nation, worldwide service, and the Corps close connection to the Navy. The inscriptions here include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, 2025, and the AW signature mark.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025-P Proof Marine Corps Privy Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin displays Emily Damstras modern bald eagle artwork. Added to the Silver Eagle series in mid-2021, it shows the eagle in flight holding an oak branch. Inscriptions here include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, 1 OZ FINE SILVER, and the P mint mark.
History
During World War I, the Marine Corps expanded quickly, with the 4th Marine Brigade serving alongside the U.S. Armys 2nd Division in major battles. At Belleau Wood in June 1918, Marines fought a fierce three-week engagement that became legendaryreportedly earning the nickname Devil Dogs from German forces. They went on to serve bravely at Soissons, Saint-Mihiel, and throughout the Meuse-Argonne Offensive.
