The Mexican Libertad bullion coin collection is struck by the Mexican Mint, recognized as the oldest mint in continuous operation in the Western Hemisphere. Introduced in the 1980s, the series includes gold and silver coins that draw inspiration from the historic 1921 Gold Centenario. In 2025, the mint reduced its production of Silver Libertads and did not release any Gold Libertads. This resulted in especially low mintages for BU Silver Libertads, which could impact how often they are available. Today, 2025 Mexican Libertad 5 oz Silver Coins in certified condition can be purchased online from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Coin arrives in a protective plastic slab!
  • 30th year for 5 oz Silver Libertad Coins!
  • Extremely low mintage of just 200 coins!
  • Contains 5 troy oz of .999 pure silver.
  • Bears a grade of Mint State 70 from the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • The obverse depicts the national coat of arms.
  • On the reverse is the image of Winged Victory.

These 2025 Mexican Libertad 5 oz Silver Coins are graded Mint State 70. Coins with this grade have full mint brilliance and no visible imperfections. With only 200 coins struck, this issue ranks among the lowest mintages seen in the 5 oz Libertad series.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2025 Mexican Libertad Silver Coin displays the national coat of arms of Mexico. The design features a golden eagle standing on a cactus while grasping a serpent with its beak and talons. For coins of 1 oz and higher, a ring of 10 previous versions of the coat of arms surrounds the main image. Inscriptions include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 2025 Libertad 5 oz Silver Coin, you will find Winged Victory. This version of the design, first used in 1996, shows a three-quarter perspective of Victory positioned atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column in Mexico City. Inscriptions read 5 ONZAS, PLATA PURA, 2025 LEY .999, and the Mo mint mark.

History

Winged Victory, often called the Angel of Independence or El ngel, is the statue placed at the top of the Independence Victory Column. The monument was created to honor the 100th anniversary of the beginning of Mexicos War of Independence in 1810. Designed by Antonio Rivas Mercado, it reflects an important moment in Mexicos national history.
