The Mexican Mint is known as the oldest mint still operating in the Western Hemisphere. Its responsible for producing the Mexican Libertad bullion coins, a popular series that started in the 1980s. These coins are available in both gold and silver, with designs that reflect the classic imagery of the 1921 Gold Centenario. Right now, Provident Metals has 2025 Mexican Libertad 2 oz Silver Coins available for purchase.

Highlights:

  • Comes with an individual plastic flip!
  • 30th year for the 2 oz Silver Libertad!
  • Unprecedented low mintage of only 200 coins!
  • Contains 2 Troy oz of .999 pure silver in BU condition.
  • On the obverse is the coat of arms of Mexico.
  • The reverse features the statue of Winged Victory.

Each 2025 Mexican Libertad 2 oz Silver Coin is packaged in a plastic flip and offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. In 2025, the Mexican Mint cut back heavily on the mintage of Mexican Silver Libertads and chose not to produce 2025 Mexican Gold Libertads. The mintage totals for BU Silver Libertads have dropped to levels never before seen in the program, setting the stage for long-term scarcity.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2025 Mexican Libertad Silver Coin displays the official coat of arms of Mexico. This powerful symbol includes an eagle standing on a prickly pear cactus with a snake in its beak and claw. Larger coins like this one feature ten historic versions of the national seal circling the main design. The inscriptions include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.

Reverse

On the reverse of 2025 Libertad 2 oz Silver Coins, the coin showcases Winged Victory in front of the Mexican Independence Victory Column. This modern design, introduced to the silver series in 1996, presents a three-quarter angle of the statue and continues to serve as a strong national symbol. The inscriptions read 2 ONZAS, PLATA PURA, 2025 LEY .999, and the Mo mint mark.

History

At the heart of the Libertad Series is the image of Winged Victory. Known in Spanish as Libertad, she represents Mexicos hopes for democracy, justice, and independence from foreign powers. Her wings reflect the countrys determination to move forward and overcome limitations.
