{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Mexican Mint is recognized as the oldest mint in the Americas, with a long history of producing coins that reflect the nation’s culture and heritage. Among its most popular offerings is the Libertad Series, which began in the 1980s and includes both silver and gold coins. Today, Provident Metals offers the 2025 Mexican Libertad 1/4 oz Silver Coin for those interested in fractional silver.
Highlights:
Each 2025 Mexican Libertad 1/4 oz Silver Coin arrives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and is housed in a plastic flip for safekeeping. For 2025, the Mexican Mint reduced the mintage of Mexican Silver Libertads to a significant degree and chose not to offer any 2025 Mexican Gold Libertads. The BU Silver Libertads, in particular, feature mintage levels at unprecedented lows, suggesting a higher level of scarcity in the future.
Obverse
The obverse of these 2025 Mexican Libertad Silver Coins presents the coat of arms of Mexico. This image includes an eagle holding a snake while perched on a cactus, representing a well-known scene from Aztec mythology and forming a central part of Mexicos national emblem. Inscriptions include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2025 Libertad 1/4 oz Silver Coin shows the Winged Victory. First added to the silver coins in 1996, this version displays her from a partial side view, standing atop the Independence Column located in downtown Mexico City. Inscriptions read 1/4 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 2025 LEY .999, and the Mo mint mark.
History
The design of Winged Victory has been adapted over time, reflecting Mexicos evolving national identity. A key example is the Angel of Independence, a statue located in Mexico City that was completed in 1910. The monument blends European-style architecture with Mexican symbols, making it a national landmark.
