Obverse
On the obverse of the 2025 Colorized Congo Prehistoric Life Velociraptor Silver Coin, you will find the national coat of arms of the Republic of the Congo. The central design features a leopards head, a symbol often associated with strength. Behind the shield are a crossed elephant tusk and spear, representing the countrys natural resources and its independence.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025 Colorized Prehistoric Life Velociraptor 1 oz Silver Coin shows a detailed image of the Velociraptor. Unlike the larger versions often seen in films, the real animal was much smaller. It stood around 18 inches tall and reached about six feet in length. Its body was built for quick movement, with lightweight bones supporting its speed. A key feature was the curved claw on each foot, which could grow to around 2.6 inches and was likely used when hunting prey.
History
The Velociraptor is a well-known dinosaur that has captured attention for years. Despite its smaller size, it was an effective hunter with quick movements and sharp claws. Roughly the size of a turkey, it likely hunted in groups and relied on speed and coordination. Fossil evidence now suggests it may have had feathers, helping researchers better understand the link between dinosaurs and birds.
