{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}Scottsdale Mint, located in Scottsdale, Arizona, is widely respected for producing high-quality bullion coins, rounds, and bars. The mint is known for dependable craftsmanship and distinctive designs that appeal to both collectors and investors. One of its ongoing collections, the Barbados Trident Series, remains a favorite among gold buyers each year. Currently, the 2025 Barbados Trident 1 oz Gold Coin is available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
All 2025 Barbados Trident 1 oz Gold Coins are offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Each coin is either sealed in an individual capsule or presented on a chipboard of five coins. Scottsdale Mint refreshes the wave pattern on the reverse every year, and this release introduces a new textured background. The updated waves feature a radiating style that adds dimension to the overall appearance of the coin.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2025 Barbados Trident Gold Coin displays the national coat of arms of Barbados. The central shield shows a bearded fig tree, a reference to the islands name and early history. Supporting the shield are a pelican and a dolphin. The pelican reflects the wildlife found near Pelican Island, while the dolphin highlights the countrys connection to the sea and fishing traditions. Above the shield is a helmet surrounded by orchids and a hand holding crossed sugar cane stalks, representing an important part of the islands agricultural heritage. Inscriptions include BARBADOS and 2025.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2025 Trident 1 oz Gold Coin, the trident head is featured prominently in the center. The symbol traces back to the colonial-era Badge of Barbados, which once depicted Britannia holding a trident. By choosing to display only the trident, Barbados established a lasting symbol of independence. The three points are also commonly interpreted as representing democratic values central to the nation. Inscriptions read .9999 FINE GOLD, FIVE DOLLARS, and ONE TROY OUNCE.
History
The trident is a symbol with deep historical roots, appearing in ancient civilizations and mythology. In Greek tradition, it was associated with Poseidon, the powerful god of the sea, and represented his command over the waters. The Romans connected the same three-pronged spear to Neptune. Over centuries, the trident became closely linked with strength at sea and maritime authority.
