Obverse

On the obverse side of the 2025 American Eagle Gold Coin, you’ll find Lady Liberty, a design created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for the 1907 $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle. The image shows Liberty facing forward, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Inscriptions here include LIBERTY, 2025, and the Saint-Gaudens signature mark.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2025 Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin features a modern design of the bald eagle by Jennie Norris, introduced in 2021. This new design, which marks the first change in the Gold Eagle’s series history, depicts a left-profile view of the bald eagles head. Inscriptions here read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 10 DOLLARS, and 1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD.

History

Throughout the Gold Eagle program, three versions of the 1/4 oz coin have been offered. The longest-running is the 1/4 oz BU Gold Eagle, followed by the 1/4 oz Proof Gold Eagle. The 1/4 oz Burnished Gold Eagle was only available from 2006 to 2008.
