Obverse

The obverse of the 2025 American Eagle Gold Coin features the renowned image of Lady Liberty, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907. The depiction shows Liberty walking forward, holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The backdrop includes the U.S. Capitol building, sun rays, and a ring of stars. The inscriptions read LIBERTY, 2025, and the signature mark of Saint-Gaudens.

Reverse

On the reverse of 2025 Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin, youll see a modernized image of the American bald eagle. This design, introduced in July 2021 by Jennie Norris, shows the eagles head in profile with detailed precision, reflecting the strength and independence of this American symbol. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 25 DOLLARS, and 1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD.

History

The American Eagle Gold series began in 1986 with coins available in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz sizes. The 1/2 oz Gold Eagle was first offered in Proof form in 1987 and later as a burnished coin from 2006 to 2008. The highest mintages for the 1/2 oz size were in 1986 (599,566 coins) and 1999 (263,013 coins).
