A year later, a 1 oz proof coin was added to the lineup. By 1986, annual releases of Proof Silver Libertads became the standard, and over time, the collection grew to include several other sizes. Provident Metals is pleased to offer the 2025 Proof Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Silver Coin.
Highlights:
The 2025 Proof Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Silver Coin comes sealed in a protective capsule. Proof coins are made with a high level of detail, offering frosted imagery and mirror-like fields. This 1/2 oz size has been part of the series since 1992, except for a brief gap in 2012 when the coin wasnt issued.
Obverse
The 2025 Proof Mexican Libertad Silver Coin shows the modern version of this design. The image features a golden eagle perched on a cactus with a serpent clutched in its beak and talon. While larger Libertads include ten historic versions of this emblem surrounding the central seal, the 1/2 oz coin displays only the current version in the middle. The inscriptions read ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025 Proof Libertad 1/2 oz Silver Coin showcases the well-known Winged Victory statue. This iconic figure stands on the top of the Independence Victory Column in Mexico City. In the background, youll see the volcanic peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. Inscriptions here read 1/2 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 2025 LEY .999, and the Mo mint mark.
History
On the obverse, youll find the official seal of Mexico, a design that evolved through the countrys fight for independence. Revolutionary figures like Miguel Hidalgo and Jos Mara Morelos chose to use the eagle and serpent in their symbols, without the religious and royal elements from colonial Spain.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
