Proof Mexican Gold Libertads made their debut in 1983, but during the first 19 years, they were issued only twice. The initial release in 1983 included a 1 oz gold coin, and the subsequent 1989 release featured a 1/2 oz gold coin. It wasnt until 2004 that the series expanded to include five different weights, with annual releases ever since. Right now, you can purchase the 2024 Proof Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives inside acrylic capsules!
  • 21st issue of 1/2 oz Proof Gold Libertads!
  • Contains 1/2 Troy oz of .999 pure gold.
  • Obverse includes the coat of arms of Mexico.
  • Reverse features Winged Victory, the Angel of Independence.

Each 2024 Proof Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Gold Coin is housed in an acrylic capsule, showcasing its stunning proof finish. Obverse

On the obverse of the 2024 Proof Mexican Libertad Gold Coin, you will find the Mexican coat of arms. This national emblem, influenced by an Aztec symbol from the Codex Mendoza in 1524, depicts a Golden eagle in left-profile perched on a prickly pear cactus, battling a serpent. Inscriptions read ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2024 Proof Libertad 1/2 oz Gold Coin features the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column. At the top of this column stands Winged Victory, with the volcanic peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl visible in the background. Inscriptions include 1/2 ONZA, ORO PURO, 2024 LEY .999, and the mint mark.

History

The 1/2 oz Proof Gold Libertad first appeared in 1989 with a limited mintage of only 704 coins. Since 2004, the coin has been issued annually, typically in low mintages. The highest mintage was recorded in 2016 with 2,100 coins, while the lowest was in 2004 with just 200 coins.
