{{/presale}}Since its introduction in 2014, the Australian Wedge Tail Eagle Series has captivated collectors with its annual releases, each featuring a new and unique design. This series is particularly popular in the United States, thanks to the involvement of John Mercanti, the former Chief Engraver of the US Mint, who lent his expertise to this stunning collection. The series limited mintage and beautiful designs have led to sellouts year after year. Provident Metals is excited to offer the 2024 Proof Australian Wedge Tail Eagle 3 oz Silver Coin.
Highlights:
Each 2024 Proof Australian Wedge Tail Eagle 3 oz Silver Coin is carefully packaged to preserve its beauty. The coins are protected in capsules and come in Perth Mint coin boxes. These boxes are enclosed in a Wedge Tail Eagle Series-themed shipper, with a Certificate of Authenticity included from Perth Mint.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2024 Proof Australian Wedge Tail Eagle Silver Coin features a left-profile portrait of His Majesty King Charles III. This is the first depiction of King Charles III by Perth Mint, crafted by artist Dan Thorne, showing the King without a crown. Inscriptions read CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, and 3 DOLLARS.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2024 Proof Wedge Tail Eagle 3 oz Silver Coin, youll see the 10th-anniversary design of the series. This image captures the grandeur of the wedge-tailed eagle from below as it flies overhead, with the suns rays shining behind it. Inscriptions here read 10TH ANNIVERSARY, P125, AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE, and 2024 3 OZ 9999 SILVER.
History
In terms of size, the wedge-tailed eagle is a formidable bird, with males typically weighing between 3 to 5.5 kilograms (6.6 to 12.1 pounds) and females being slightly larger, weighing between 4 to 7 kilograms (8.8 to 15.4 pounds). This size difference between the sexes is a common trait among birds of prey, known as sexual dimorphism.
