{{/presale}}The Mexican Libertad Series is a hallmark of Mexicos rich history, representing the nations official bullion coins, all struck by the Mexican Mint. The silver series has been produced regularly since its inception in 1982, with the gold coins following consistently from 2002 after earlier, less frequent releases. You can now secure the 2024 Mexican Libertad 2 oz Silver Coins at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2024 Mexican Libertad 2 oz Silver Coin you purchase will arrive in a protective plastic flip. The 2 oz coin was first introduced in 1996, coinciding with the launch of a 5 oz version. The inaugural mintage remains the highest for this size, and 2023 marked the third-highest mintage with 30,000 coins struck.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2024 Mexican Libertad Silver Coin features the Mexican coat of arms. The central motif presents a golden eagle gripping a serpent on a prickly pear cactus branch. Encircling this are 10 previous versions of the national seal, reflecting Mexicos historical journey. Inscriptions here read 2 ONZAS, PLATA PURA, 2024 LEY .999, and the mint mark.
Reverse
The 2024 Libertad 2 oz Silver Coins feature Winged Victory on the reverse side, portrayed in three-quarter relief. She holds a laurel wreath high in her right hand while grasping broken chains in her left. Behind her, the peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl can be seen rising against the sky. The inscription here reads ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
History
On the reverse of all Mexican Libertad coins, youll find the striking image of Winged Victory, a symbol of Mexicos fight for independence. The Independence Victory Column is constructed of pink quarried stone and features a neoclassical architectural style, common to many monuments of the early 20th century. The design was inspired by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, underscoring Mexico’s desire to establish itself as a modern, cosmopolitan nation in the wake of its long struggle for self-governance.
