Mexican Gold Libertad Coins boast a legacy that connects directly to the 1921 Gold Centenario, created by the Mexican Mint. This historic coin marked the centennial of Mexican independence, and six decades later, the Mexican Mint revived those classic designs for the gold bullion Mexican Libertad series. Currently, 2024 Mexican Libertad 1/10 oz Gold Coins are available from Provident Metals.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives inside plastic flips!
  • 27th issue of 1/10 oz Gold Libertads!
  • Contains 1/10 Troy oz of .999 pure gold in BU condition.
  • On the obverse is the coat of arms of Mexico.
  • The reverse features Winged Victory.

These 2024 Mexican Libertad 1/10 oz Gold Coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and are individually packaged in plastic flips. The 1/10 oz coin is the second smallest in the Gold Libertad series, which features five different weights ranging from 1 oz to 1/20 oz.

Obverse

On the obverse of the 2024 Mexican Libertad Gold Coin, you will see Mexico’s modern coat of arms. This emblem features a majestic golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus, battling a serpent. The design is inspired by Aztec tradition, which tells of the founding of their capital city where an eagle was seen devouring a snake. Inscriptions include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2024 Libertad 1/10 oz Gold Coin displays the famous Winged Victory statue. This statue is a powerful symbol of Mexico’s struggle for independence, depicted standing atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column, holding a laurel crown in one hand and broken chains in the other. The inscriptions include 1/10 ONZA, ORO PURO, 2024 LEY .999, and the mint mark.

History

The 1/10 oz Gold Libertad was first released in 1991. The Gold Libertad series began in 1981 with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz coins, but production paused until 1991, when it resumed with the addition of the 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz sizes. These five weights were minted until 1994, with a brief production run in 2000, and then continued annually from 2002 onwards.
