{{/presale}}Since 2015, the Scottsdale Mints Biblical Series has captivated collectors with its stunning 2 oz antique silver coins, each inspired by a different passage from the Bible. Modeled after the 19th-century illustrations of Gustave Dore, these coins capture the spirit of scripture with rich detail. As this series reaches its conclusion in 2024, these final designs beautifully honor its legacy. Provident Metals now has the 2024 Philistines Return the Ark Biblical 2 oz Silver Coins available.
Highlights:
Each of the 2024 Philistines Return the Ark Biblical 2 oz Silver Coins is crafted with an antique polish that gives it an aged, historical appearance. The coins arrive in a Bible-themed presentation box with a Certificate of Authenticity from the mint, commemorating 2024 as the final year for this renowned collection.
Obverse
On the obverse of each 2024 Philistines Return the Ark Biblical Silver Coin, King Charles III is featured in a left-profile portrait without a crown. This effigy was created by Jody Clark, the same artist behind the final portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, his mother. The inscriptions read CHARLES III, 2 OZ 999 FINE SILVER, 2024, and NIUE TWO DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2024 Philistines Return the Ark Biblical 2 oz Silver Coin depicts the moment the Philistines returned the Ark of the Covenant to Israel. Acting on advice from their spiritual advisors, the Philistines placed the Ark on a cart pulled by two milk cows. They let the cows travel freely, believing that if the animals went to Beth Shemesh in Israel, it would confirm that the Lord was the cause of the plagues. Inscriptions read PHILISTINES RETURN THE ARK.
History
The Philistines followed these instructions precisely, and indeed, the cows went straight to Beth Shemesh, lowing as they went but never deviating from their path. The cart arrived at the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh, where the Levites took down the Ark and the wood of the cart was used to make a fire for sacrifices to the Lord. The Philistines’ rulers, who had followed at a distance to observe what would happen, returned to their territory, and the plagues that had afflicted their people finally ceased.
