{{/presale}}Wombats are fascinating marsupials native to Australia, easily recognized by their compact bodies and impressive burrowing skills. These herbivorous mammals are mostly nocturnal and thrive in forests, mountainous regions, and heathlands across the country. There are three surviving species of wombats: the common wombat, the northern hairy-nosed wombat, and the southern hairy-nosed wombat. Right now, 2024 Colorized Australian Wombat 1 oz Silver Coins are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2024 Colorized Australian Wombat 1 oz Silver Coin comes in a wombat-themed presentation card from the Perth Mint, which includes a small fold-out stand for displaying the coin. The coins reverse is colorized, highlighting the pair of wombats and the surrounding foliage.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2024 Colorized Australian Wombat Silver Coin features a portrait of His Majesty King Charles III. Designed by Dan Thorne, this left-profile bust of the king appears on the Silver Wombat Coin for the first time in 2024. Inscriptions include CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, and 1 DOLLAR.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2024 Colorized Wombat 1 oz Silver Coin, youll see a mother wombat with her joey, surrounded by foliage, gum trees, and birds in flight. The inscriptions include WOMBAT, 2024, and 1 OZ 9999 SILVER.
History
Despite their cuddly appearance, wombats can be quite formidable when threatened. They have a reinforced posterior composed of cartilage, which they use as a defense mechanism. When pursued by a predator, a wombat will dive headfirst into its burrow, using its hardened backside to block the entrance and potentially crush the skull of any persistent attacker against the tunnel roof.
