History

In Chinese mythology, dragons were closely associated with water and weather phenomena. The Dragon Kings, also known as the Dragon Gods, were believed to reside in palaces beneath the sea and could transform into human form. Each ruled one of the four seas: the East Sea (East China Sea), the South Sea (South China Sea), the West Sea (Indian Ocean), and the North Sea (Lake Baikal).
