{{/presale}}The Australian Koala Series is one of the Perth Mints most admired bullion coin programs. Launched in silver in 2007, this series has consistently charmed collectors and investors with its annually updated koala designs. In recent years, the collection expanded to include gold coins, giving fans of the series more ways to enjoy these distinctive designs. Right now, 2024 Australian Koala 1/10 oz Gold Coins are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The 2024 Australian Koala 1/10 oz Gold Coins come packaged in acrylic capsules for protection. The Perth Mint has limited the mintage of this release to just 25,000 coins, making it a sought-after addition for both collectors and investors. Ing Ing Jong, known for her work on the Perth Mints Lunar Series, created the 2024 Koala design, adding to her portfolio of remarkable numismatic artistry.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2024 Australian Koala Gold Coin showcases the first official portrait of King Charles III on Australian currency. Designed by Dan Thorne, this profile view shows the King without a crown, emphasizing a modern and approachable representation of the new monarch. The inscriptions include CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, and 15 DOLLARS.
Reverse
On the reverse, the 2024 Koala 1/10 oz Gold Coin depicts a koala clinging to the trunk of a gum tree, glancing back with a calm and curious expression. This tranquil design captures the gentle nature of one of Australias most beloved animals, making the Gold Koala Coin a beautiful tribute to its namesake. The inscriptions read 2024, 1/10 OZ 9999 GOLD, P125, and KOALA.
History
Koalas once inhabited much of eastern Australia, ranging from Queensland to South Australia, thriving in the eucalyptus forests that provide their primary food source. Over time, regional variations in size and fur texture developed among these marsupials due to differences in local climates and habitats. This historical distribution highlights the adaptability and charm of this iconic Australian animal.
