{{/presale}}Introducing the American Eagle Gold bullion series by the United States Mint, available since 1986. While the collectible versions had a different release strategy initially and experienced production pauses, the BU Gold Eagle has remained a consistent choice for investors in four weights. Now, you can conveniently purchase the 2024 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The United States Mint offers Gold Eagle coins in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz weights. These four options are available every year in the BU series. The Proof coins made their debut in 1986 with 1 oz gold, while the fractional-ounce coins were introduced between 1987 and 1988. Burnished coins were first released in 2006 in all four weights, but as of 2011, they are only available in 1 oz gold.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2024 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins, you’ll find the historic image of Lady Liberty by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This design, created in 1907, features Liberty walking towards the viewer in front-facing relief. She holds a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Inscriptions read LIBERTY and 2024.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2024 American Eagle Gold Coin showcases a captivating depiction of the American bald eagle. Designed by Jennie Norris in 2020 and debuted in mid-2021, this artwork presents the bald eagle in impressive left-profile relief, capturing intricate details of its plumage. The inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 25 DOLLARS, and 1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD.
History
When the United States Mint introduced the American Eagle Gold Series in 1986, it was the purest gold coin struck in the United States since 1834. In 1834, the US Mint reduced gold purity in its coins from 22-karat gold down to 89.92% gold. This continued through 1837, and from 1837 to the end of gold coining in 1933, all US gold coins were 90% gold specimens. Modern American Eagle Gold Coins are 22-karat gold specimens with 91.67% gold, 5.33% copper, and 3% silver.
