HELENA, and 1 POUND.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2023 Una and the Lion 1 oz Silver Coins showcases a contemporary rendition of Una and the Lion, with Una seated and looking ahead while her left hand is placed on the powerful lion’s mane. In the background, a stylized sun fills the field with a burst of rays. Inscriptions on this side include UNA AND THE LION and 2023.
History
The image of Una and the Lion has been depicted in many works of art, including paintings, tapestries, and sculptures. One of the most famous depictions is the statue of Una and the Lion in Central Park, New York City, which was created by the American sculptor Emma Stebbins in the 19th century.
