{{/presale}}British coronation ceremonies are steeped in tradition and are very elaborate affairs. The most recent British coronation was that of Queen Elizabeth II, which took place on June 2, 1953, at Westminster Abbey in London. With King Charles IIIs coronation on May 6, 2023, Britons experience the first coronation ceremony in generations. Provident Metals now has 2023 Proof British The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III 1 oz Gold Coins available to purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 2023 Proof British The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III 1 oz Gold Coins online at Provident Metals, each one arrives in a presentation display. The coins are in plastic capsules inside a wooden display box that includes a Certificate of Authenticity!
Obverse
His Majesty is depicted in right-profile relief on the 2023 Proof British The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III Gold Coin, using the Martin Jennings portrait that was created in late 2022. To commemorate his official coronation ceremony, the coin has been modified to feature the Imperial Crown. Inscriptions read CHARLES III, D.G. REX. F.D., 100 POUNDS, and 2023.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2023 Proof The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III 1 oz Gold Coin, the Royal Arms are illustrated in a unique rendition created solely for His Majesty. This emblem displays the United Kingdom’s coat of arms, as well as the individual seals of England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Inscriptions here include THE CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III and 6 MAY 2023.
History
The coronation ceremony usually involves a procession through the streets of London, with the newly-crowned monarch being carried in a state coach from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey.
