History
Around six to seven months of age, the joey becomes too large for the pouch and begins to ride on its mother’s back. This is the weaning period, during which the joey starts to eat eucalyptus leaves like its mother. Over the next few months, the joey will gradually spend more time exploring outside the pouch until it becomes independent.
