Obverse

History
This coin is a response to the 2013 America the Beautiful Ohio release from the U.S. Mint. That coin paid tribute to Oliver Perry, a famous Naval Commander during the War of 1812. Alternatively, this coin reminds us of Erie people, who, prior to that war, called the northern Ohio region home. Ultimately, the Erie were destroyed by the Iroquois during the 17th-centuryBeaver Wars.
