Obverse

On the front face of the 2023 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin, you will discover the fourth-generation depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. This particular design, created by Susanna Blunt in 2003, not only showcases the Queen but also includes commemorative dates that symbolize her remarkable reign. Inscriptions read ELIZABETH II, 20 DOLLARS, 2023, and the 1952-2022 dates of Her Late Majestys reign.

Reverse

Walter Ott’s design of the sugar maple leaf adorns the reverse side of the 2023 Maple Leaf 1/2 oz Gold Coin. This remarkable depiction of the national emblem has adorned the reverse of Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins since 1979, presenting the iconic maple leaf in all its natural splendor. Inscriptions include CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD, and 1/2 OZ OR PUR.

History

To ensure the authenticity and security of the coins, the Royal Canadian Mint has implemented several anti-counterfeiting measures. One such feature is the micro-engraved maple leaf privy mark, which is visible under magnification. Additionally, the coins have radial lines on both sides, which create a unique light-diffracting pattern to deter counterfeiting attempts. These security features add to the trust and reliability associated with Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins.
