{{/presale}}Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coins are offered by the Royal Canadian Mint each year with six weights. Since 2014, six weights have been available, but these options have been introduced in various different years between the 1979 debut of the series and the final expansion in 2014. Today, you can purchase 2023 Canadian Maple Leaf 1/10 oz Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The coins of the Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Series debuted in five stages between 1979 and 2014. The first year of availability included only the 1 oz gold coin. In 1982, this 1/10 oz weight was introduced along with a 1/4 oz gold coin. The 1/2 oz gold coin debuted in 1986, the 1/20 oz in 1993, and the 1 Gram in 2014.
Obverse
On the obverse of all 2023 Maple Leaf 1/10 oz Gold Coins is Queen Elizabeth II. This 2003 depiction of Her Majesty in right-profile relief comes from Susanna Blunt and appears on the coins for the final time this year. This comes following the Queens passing in September 2022. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, 5 DOLLARS, and 2023.
Reverse
The reverse field of the 2023 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin comes with a sugar maple leaf. This iconic depiction of the national emblem was created in 1979 by Walter Ott and features on all options in the series. Inscriptions include CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD, 1/10 OZ, and OR PUR.
History
Her Majesty has featured on all coins issued to date in the Canadian Maple Leaf Series. When new 2023 Canadian Maple Leafs debut later in the release cycle with a King Charles III effigy, it will be the first version of the coins not to feature an effigy of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
