{{/presale}}The British Britannia Series of bullion coins from the Royal Mint debuted in 1987 with gold bullion coins and has since grown to include silver and platinum bullion options as well. Across all weights and versions, since 1987, this series has only ever featured a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. For the first time, a new monarch comes to the coins in 2023. Provident Metals now has 2023 British Britannia 1/10 oz Gold Coins with King Charles III on the obverse.
Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 2023 British Britannia 1/10 oz Gold Coins online from Provident Metals, you will receive your items in either individual plastic flips or acrylic tubes holding 25 gold coins. All of the coins in this listing are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2023 British Britannia Gold Coin comes with the new effigy of King Charles III. Designed in late 2022 by Martin Jennings, this first-ever portrait of Charles III captures the new monarch in left-profile relief without a crown on his head. Inscriptions include 10 POUNDS, CHARLES III, and D.G. REX. F.D.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 2023 Britannia 1/10 oz Gold Coins is the iconic, modern image of Britannia. Designed in 1987 by Philip Nathan, this visual shows Britannia with a Corinthian helmet on her head as her right hand clutches a trident and her left rests on a Union Jack shield. Inscriptions on this side read BRITANNIA, 2023, 1/10 OZ, and 999.9 FINE GOLD.
History
King Charles III is the first monarch other than Queen Elizabeth II to feature on the obverse of Britannia coins. The 2023 release started with Her Majesty on the coins for a final time and now moves to a new era with the image of King Charles III for the remainder of 2023.
