Highlights:
The Chinese zodiac calendar has a unique legend behind it. According to Chinese folklore, the Jade Emperor called a meeting and asked 12 animals to come to meet him. The animals in the lunar calendar are placed in certain spots based on the order in which they arrived to meet the emperor. While the rat placed first, the tiger was third in the race.
Obverse
Queen Elizabeth IIborn during the Year of the Tigeris shown sitting proudly in her tiara and jewelry on the obverse. This image, created by the Royal Mints Jody Clark, is the fifth depiction of Her Majesty on coinage. It was designed in 2015, and Clarks initials are featured in the image. Circling the Queen is the lunar calendar wheel with the tiger shown at the top.
Reverse
A confident tiger is proudly displayed on the reverse face of these coins. In the image, the large tiger is shown with its mouth slightly ajar as it walks over pine branches. You can also find numerous inscriptions on this face of the coins, including the Chinese symbol for Tiger, Year of the Tiger, and the weight and purity of the coin.
