Highlights:
The image of Winged Victory featured on the reverse of the coins in the Proof Mexican Libertad Series is based on a statue that actually stands in Mexico City to this day. In 1910, the nation marked the centennial of the start of its independence movement with the sculpting of a statue of Winged Victory. In 1921, the nation completed the Mexican Independence Victory Column to mark the centennial of its full independence. Upon the completion of the column, the bronze statue of Winged Victory was placed atop the monument, where she stands to this day.
Obverse
On the obverse face of 2022 Proof Mexican Libertad 1/10 oz Gold Coins, you will find the coat of arms of Mexico. The national emblem of the Mexican government, the coat of arms shows a golden eagle in left-profile relief using its beak and talons to subdue a serpent. The duo is on a prickly pear cactus, and the field comes with both an inscription of ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS and a wreath of oak and laurel.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2022 Proof Libertad Gold Coin is the statue of Winged Victory. She dominates the foreground with the volcanic peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl in the background field. Winged Victory is shown in a three-quarter-profile relief with her left hand holding broken chains as she extends her right hand with a laurel wreath. Inscriptions on this side include 1/10 ONZA, ORO PURO, 2022 LEY .999, and the OM mint mark of the Mexican Mint.
