{{/presale}}In the new Auspicious Koi Series, collectors can own one of three beautiful coins that replicate the appearance of an ornamental koi pond in the palm of your hand. These 1 oz silver coins feature designs struck on oval-shaped blanks with ultra-high-relief visuals, proof finishes, and two distinct additional versions with the gilded and colorized options. Provident Metals now has 2022 Proof Colorized Niue Auspicious Koi 1 oz Silver Coins available to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase a 2022 Proof Colorized Niue Auspicious Koi 1 oz Silver Coin in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin that is in individual packaging from the mint. Each coin has its own presentation display with a clear viewing window. The coins come with an outer shipper as well.
These specimens have limited colorization on the reverse field to create visual contrast between the koi fish and the pond. The coins are also struck in ultra-high relief, delivering raised, 3D relief on the designs and greater visual depth in the background. Finally, each one has frosted designs and mirrored fields.
Obverse
The obverse field of the 2022 Proof Colorized Niue Auspicious Koi Silver Coin comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II at the top. This portion of the design element includes the 1998 depiction of Elizabeth II as created by Ian Rank-Broadley. It is surrounded by inscriptions of ELIZABETH II, NIUE, TWO DOLLARS, and 2022. Beneath the portrait of the Queen, you will find two koi swimming. This portion of the field has inscriptions of 1 OZ 999 FINE SILVER.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2022 Proof Colorized Niue Auspicious Koi 1 oz Silver Coin, you will find a design that brings the sense of the koi pond to life. These coins are struck with designs on oval-shaped blanks. Here, two koi fish swim beneath a lily pad. These two particular fish are colorized with brilliant shades of red, orange, and white.
History
While the specialized breeding of koi in Japan dates to the early 19th century, there are older written works referencing colored carp in the ponds of emperors. It is said that the oldest mention praises the colored carp of Emperor Keiko in the year 94 CE.
