{{/presale}}The sinking of theRMS Titanicis one of the most iconic stories in modern history, a tragedy that became a symbol of technological hubris. A Cook Islands coin program from the Coin Investment Trust commemorates this tragedy with a series of precious collectibles with a unique touch. One of the few items to be recovered from the wreck, in the year 2000, was a piece of coal that now contributes souvenir insets to each coin in a set of limited mintages sure to be prized by collectors. This includes the 2022 Proof Colorized Cook Islands Titanic 1912 1 oz Gold Coin, now available from Provident Metals.

History
The product of intense competition between shipping lines in the early 20th century, theRMS Titanicbelonged to a trinity of vessels that were designed to be the last word in size, spaciousness, and luxury in passenger liners. When it struck the iceberg that sank it, theTitanictook more than 1500 people to an icy grave. Many observers expressed shock at the event and professed to have thought the ship “unsinkable,” and the disaster has captured popular imagination ever since.
