{{/presale}}In the days and weeks following his 1865 assassination, there were calls for a memorial to the 16th President of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln. It would be another 60 years until a monument honoring this exceptional American leader would be completed. Today, the Lincoln Memorial stands as one of the most hallowed sites in America and is one of the most popular monuments on the National Mall in Washington D.C. Today, you have the chance to own the 2022 Proof British Virgin Islands 100th Anniversary Lincoln Memorial 5 oz Silver Coin with an inset, gold-clad US Penny online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The first memorial to President Abraham Lincoln was erected just a few years after his assassination at the hands of John Wilkes Booth. A statue of the former President of the United States was erected outside of City Hall in Washington D.C., but there was a desire to see more done to honor the man who preserved the Union.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2022 Proof British Virgin Islands 100th Anniversary Lincoln Memorial Silver Coins is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. History
The Lincoln Memorials construction was started in 1914 and completed in 1922. When the site was commemorated 100 years ago, former President and then-Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court William Howard Taft was on hand alongside President Warren G. Harding and Robert Todd Lincoln, the only surviving son of President Abraham Lincoln.
