Obverse
On the obverse side of 2022 Proof Australian Koala Silver Coin, you will find an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This right-profile portrait is the sixth-generation design for Australian coins and depicts the Queen at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem. Inscriptions on this side include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and 8 DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse field of the 2022 Proof Koala 5 oz Silver Coin comes with a depiction of the namesake marsupial for this series. Koalas are instantly recognizable in the wild with their broad bodies, round noses, and large, fluffy ears. In this design, the koala is shown napping along the branch of a tree. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read 2022 5 OZ 9999 SILVER, KOALA, and the P mint mark of Perth Mint.
History
The Australian Koala Silver Series debuted in 2007. Historically, the series has offered 1 oz, 10 oz, and 1 Kilo silver coins to investors, though the BU range is now focused on the 1 oz and 10 oz silver coins only. Proof and high-relief proofs are a common issue, but this 5 oz gilded coin is a special issue in honor of the 15th anniversary of the series.
Ordering
2022 Proof Australian Koala 5 oz Silver Coins are available in black presentation cases with a clear lid. The coin and case ship in a koala-themed shipper with a Certificate of Authenticity. These beautiful, high-relief proofs have a special application of pink-gold that covers the rim of the coin and the koala design on the reverse.
