Obverse
The inscriptions on the reverse read ELIZABETH II, NIUE, ONE DOLLAR, and 2022. There’s also a small inscription under the Queen’s effigy that reads IRB. Those are the initials of Ian Rank-Broadley, and they appear any time his right-facing effigy of Elizabeth II is used on a coin. The effigy and the inscriptions are frosted so the devices stand out well above the unique mirrored field of the coin. The field is created with many tiny round mirrors designed to look like water droplets on the coin itself.
Reverse
One of the things that makes this coin design unique is that there are no inscriptions on the reverse. Instead, there’s only a collection of tiny round mirrors of various sizes arranged to create the image of a tiger stepping through the rain. It could also look like a tiger created out of raindrops.

Before 2022, the last Year of the Water Tiger was 1962. Other elements associated with the Chinese Zodiac are metal, wood, fire, and earth.
