{{/presale}}The 1980s brought a boom in slasher horror films on cinema screens across the United States. Launched, in many ways, by the Halloween franchise in 1978, the 1980s saw the likes of the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th franchises introducing bad guys that would haunt the dreams of millions across the United States. Today, you have the opportunity to get 2022 Niue Friday the 13th 1 oz Silver Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Jason Voorhees is one of the rarer villains from horror films of the 1980s. The debut film of the series did not even feature the figure of Jason, but rather, his mother. Mrs. Pamela Voorhees was the murderer in the debut film in 1980, killing teenagers and staff at Camp Crystal Lake in a bid to both exact her revenge and delay the camps reopening. Mrs. Voorhees son, Jason, had previous drowned at the camp as a result of staff negligence. Jason would join the series in the flesh in the 1981 film Friday the 13th Part 2.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2022 Friday the 13th 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find the Public Seal of Niue. Often used as an alternative to the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, this visual shows a national crest at the center flanked by arrow shafts beneath and topped with the Imperial Crown. Inscriptions include TWO DOLLARS, PUBLIC SEAL OF NIUE, 2022, 1 OZ 999 FINE SILVER, and the trademark and copyright information.
Reverse
The reverse face of the 2022 Niue Friday the 13th Silver Coin features the hockey mask worn by Jason Voorhees in the slasher films. Jason debuts in the second of the 12 films of the franchise and goes on to feature directly in all of the films to follow. Between 1980 and 1989, eight films were issued depicting Jason wearing an often bloodied hockey mask on his face.
History
The Friday the 13th franchise includes 12 films in total. Only four of these films were issued outside the 1980s, with films issued in 1993, 2002, 2003, and 2009. The 1980s was the heyday of the franchise, with 1983 and 1987 being the only years in the decade without a film in the series.
