Each of the 25 coins is individually sealed and comes with its own assay information on the back. The multigram can be kept intact as one 25-gram gold specimen or broken out into 25 individual 1/2 gram gold coins.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2022 Niue Czech Lion Gold Multigrams features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty features here in the 1998 design from Ian Rank-Broadley that was created for the Royal Mint of England as its fourth-generation effigy of the Queen. In the design, she wears the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The field includes inscriptions of 5 DOLLARS, NIUE ISLAND, 2022, and ELIZABETH II. The Queens portrait is set on a spade-shaped shield with the Czech heraldic eagle supporting it from behind.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the coins in the 2022 Niue Czech Lion 12.5 Gram Gold Multigram, you will find the image of the Czech Lion. This mighty figure has a large mane and wears the Crown of Saint Wenceslas. Inscriptions on this field include CESKA REPUBLIKA and 1/2 GRAM AU 999.9.
History
The Czech Lion has two stories as to its origin, with most modern scholars attributing its appearance in Czech imagery to Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. He is said to have rewarded Prince Vladislaus II with a new royal crown and a new crest animal, the lion, in 1158.
