{{/presale}}The gold coins of the Mexican Libertad Series have been available since 1981. Though the original release in 1981 featured only three coins, the 1991 return of production for the series offered two additional coins, bringing the series to five coins in total. Today, you have the opportunity to buy 2022 Mexican Libertad 1/20 oz Gold Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Mexican Libertad Gold Coins can be considered a successor to the Mexican Mints 1921 gold Centenario. The latter coin was introduced in 1921 to mark the 100th anniversary of the nations independence from Spain. The original Centenario featured a front-facing effigy of Victory on the reverse and the national coat of arms on the obverse. When the mint introduced the Mexican Libertad Gold Coin in 1981, the same visuals were revived for the nations official gold bullion coin.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2022 Mexican Libertad 1/20 oz Gold Coins, the mint features the coat of arms of Mexico. The seal features a left-profile relief of the Mexican golden eagle, with the bird perched on a prickly pear cactus. As it sits on the cactus, the eagle battles to control a serpent using its talons and beak. The field offers a wreath of oak and laurel with an inscription of ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2022 Mexican Libertad Gold Coin comes with a vision of Winged Victory. In this design, Winged Victory is shown in three-quarter-profile relief with a laurel wreath crown in her right hand and a set of broken chains in her left. The inscriptions on this side include 1/20 ONZA, ORO PURO, 2022 LEY .999, and the OM mint mark of the Mexican Mint.
History
The Mexican Libertad Gold Coins debuted in 1981 with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz gold coins in the BU series. This expanded in 1991, the next issue after the 1981 debut, with 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz gold coins. Since 2002, the only date mark missing in the series is the 2012 date and it only impacted the fractional-ounce coins.
