Obverse

On the obverse of 2022 Cook Islands Athenas Owl Gold Coins, there is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Late Majesty ruled from 1952 until 2022, making her the longest-reigning Monarch in British history. She passed away on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96. Inscriptions are included on the obverse that read ELIZABETH II, 5 DOLLARS, COOK ISLANDS, 2022. You will also see the initials IRB for the designer, Ian Rank-Broadley.

Reverse

The reverse of 2022 Athenas Owl 1/2 Gram Gold Coins contains a classic depiction of Athenas little owl. Athena is the goddess of wisdom, and because she is often seen with this bird, it too has become associated with this virtue. In addition to the owl, you will also see an olive branch on the reverse as a representation of peace.
