{{/presale}}For the first time in its history, the Chinese Mint offers the Chinese Panda bullion coins in a platinum bullion option. Introduced in 1981, the series marks its 40th anniversary in 2022 with the release of coins featuring a 40th-anniversary privy mark and the debut of platinum bullion coins in 1 Gram and 30 Gram weights. Provident Metals now has 2022 Chinese Panda 1 Gram Platinum Coins available to purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase a 2022 Chinese Panda 1 Gram Platinum Coin from Provident Metals in this listing, you will receive a coin that is individually packaged. The Chinese Mint offers the new 2022 Chinese Panda Platinum Coin with a presentation card. The new platinum bullion coin has a limited mintage and shares the same design elements as the other coins in the series.
Obverse
The obverse side of 2022 Chinese Panda Platinum Coins features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. Part of the Taoist religious site known as the Temple of Heaven, this building is where emperors of the past would come to pray for bountiful harvests to sustain the empire. Inscriptions include the date mark of 2022 and the nation of issue, PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA, in the native Chinese tongue.
Reverse
On the reverse field of the 2022 Chinese Panda 1 Gram Platinum Coin, the mint features an all-new design for 2022. This design depicts two pandas playfully sliding down a snowy hill. One panda slides on its stomach feet first while the other slides on its back feet first. The inscriptions on this side of the coin include 1 G PT 999, the face value of 30 yuan, and the 40th-anniversary privy mark. The privy mark has the digits 40 with a panda coming through the zero.
History
In 2016, the Chinese Mint abandoned the use of Troy ounces in the measurements of its Chinese Panda bullion coins in favor of Grams. In doing so, it became the first mint in the world to issue a major bullion coin program in Grams only. To mark the 40th anniversary of the overall series, the 2022 release not only comes with a special privy mark, but also the first-ever platinum coins in the history of the series. These include a 30 Gram platinum coin alongside these 1 Gram platinum coins.
