{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The maple leaf has been part of Canadas identity for centuries, long before Confederation in 1867. Indigenous groups valued the maple tree for its many uses, and over time the leaf became a national symbol. The Royal Canadian Mint has celebrated it across various bullion programs, including the Maple Leaf Series, SuperLeaf, and Twin Maples. Today, 2022 Canadian Twin Maples 2 oz Silver Coins are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2022 Canadian Twin Maples 2 oz Silver Coin arrives in a protective plastic flip. This series features a unique look at the sugar maple leaf, separate from other Royal Canadian Mint collections like the Maple Leaf and SuperLeaf.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2022 Canadian Twin Maples Silver Coins is the fourth-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Shown in right-profile relief, this portrait was created by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt and was the final image of Her Majesty to appear on Canadian coins during her reign. The inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, D.G. REGINA, and 10 DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2022 Twin Maples 2 oz Silver Coin includes two sugar maple leaves sharing one stem. Over time, the maple leaf gained recognition across the country, from its use on World War I military badges to its role on the Canadian flag, which was officially adopted on February 15, 1965. The inscriptions read CANADA, 2022, 9999 FINE SILVER, 2 OZ, and ARGENT PUR.
History
By the 1700s, French Canadians had adopted the maple leaf as a symbol, and in the 1830s, the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society formally recognized it as a mark of French Canadian identity. When Queen Victoria visited in 1860, the Prince of Wales was greeted by children wearing maple leaves, and it soon became a shared emblem for all Canadians.
