{{/presale}}In the third release of Robin Hood-themed coins in the Myths and Legends Series, Robins fiercely loyal companion, Little John, is depicted in 1 oz silver and gold coin designs. Little John is ironically named as most historic accounts in ballads and other texts refer to him as a giant of a man. Most suggest he stood 7 feet tall and had a muscular frame. Today, you have the chance to get 2022 British Little John 1 oz Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The Robin Hood-themed coins in the Myths and Legends Series include three designs depicting the most famous characters from the folktales surrounding the legends of a team of bandits roaming the woods of Sherwood Forest. Robin Hood is the leading figure in this group, but he doesnt get the work done alone. He couldnt accomplish his goal of thwarting Prince John without Maid Marian and Little John at his side.
Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of 2022 British Little John 1 oz Gold Coins. This effigy of the Queen was created in 2015 by Jody Clark for the Royal Mint as the fifth-generation portrait of the monarch for British coins. It depicts the Queen in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. The inscriptions on this field of the coin read 100 POUNDS, ELIZABETH II, and D.G. REG F.D.
Reverse
Little John is featured in the reverse design of the 2022 Little John 1 oz Gold Coin. The design shown here was created by Jody Clark as well and captures the measure of the man. His name is an ironic twist as Little John was actually said to be 7 feet tall and possessed a muscular frame. A skilled fighter and cunning thinker, Little John is a loyal companion to Robin Hood. Inscriptions on this side include LITTLE JOHN, 1 OZ, FINE GOLD, 999.9, and 2022.
History
Little John is said to be the second-in-command of the band of Merry Men roaming Sherwood Forest with Robin Hood. Most versions of the Robin Hood narrative speak of Little John as a skilled fighter and cunning strategist who would never abandon Robin Hood.
