Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of 2022 Australian Kookaburra Silver Coin. This design from Jody Clark was created for the Royal Mint of England in 2015 as the fifth-generation portrait during Queen Elizabeth IIs effigy. Adopted by Perth Mint in 2018, the design is the sixth-generation effigy of the Queen to grace Australian coins and the first since 1966 to include her shoulders within the portrait field. Inscriptions on this side include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and 1 DOLLAR.
Reverse
A kookaburra is shown perched on a bird bath in the reverse design of the 2022 Australian Kookaburra 1 oz Silver Coin. The image features a kookaburra perched along the edge of an ornate bird bath with Agapanthus flowers blooming in the background field. The inscriptions on this face include KOOKABURRA, 2022, 1 OZ 9999 SILVER, and the P mint mark of Perth Mint.
History
Australian Kookaburra coins debuted in 1990 as the first major, annual-release silver bullion coin. The next coin to join the silver range at Perth Mint was the Australian Koala in 2007, followed by the Australian Wedge Tail Eagle in 2014, the Australian Kangaroo in 2016, and the Australian Emu in 2018.
