{{/presale}}In the latest release of Chinese Myths & Legends coins at Perth Mint, a beautiful image of the Chinese dragon features on the reverse of gold bullion coins. The 1 oz gold coins in this series have a limited mintage and come with a design that is shared on a 1 oz silver bullion coin as well. Today, you have the chance to get 2022 Australian Chinese Myths & Legends Dragon 1 oz Gold Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The Myths & Legends Series formally debuted at Perth Mint in 2021 with the release of this same dragon design on a 1 oz silver coin. However, you can trace the origins of this series back to 2017 when a Dragon & Phoenix design was issued by Perth Mint. Subsequent designs along those lines include images of the dragon, tiger, and phoenix on various different coins.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2022 Australian Chinese Dragon 1 oz Gold Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This portrait of the Queen was created for the Royal Mint in 2015 by Jody Clark and has been in use on Australian coins since 2018. The design shown here is a right-profile relief that shows the Queen at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. Inscriptions on this side of the coin read ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 100 DOLLARS, 2022, and 1 OZ 9999 AU.
Reverse
The reverse face of the 2022 Australian Chinese Myths & Legends Dragon Gold Coin features a depiction of the Chinese dragon. In this design, a celestial dragon is shown shrouded in the midst of stylized clouds. The coiled figure is clutching a flaming pearl in one of its claws. The design field includes inscriptions of the designers initials, NM, and the P mint mark of Perth Mint.
History
Dragons have been an important symbol in Chinese culture for thousands of years. From the creation story involving the four major rivers of China to the symbolism of ancient Chinese kingdoms and emperors, the dragon is central to Chinese life.
